The redesign of a Normandy therapeutic farm’s website, from Avec Pauline Studio’s carefully crafted mock-ups to a Kirby CMS site that is easy to run day to day.
Les Heures Étoilées is a therapeutic farm in Pierrefitte-en-Cinglais, Normandy. Alain welcomes people who need to slow down, surrounded by animals, the vegetable garden and nature.
For the website redesign, Pauline (Avec Pauline Studio) handled the art direction, UX/UI and mock-ups. I took care of all the development, from integrating the mock-ups to going live on Kirby CMS.
The challenge was twofold. Stay faithful to a very refined design, while giving Alain a website he can run on his own.

A clear panel to edit pages, testimonials, workshops and the farm journal.
SEO
Implementation of the SEO specification, structured data and redirects from the old site.
Back and forth with design
Several rounds of feedback from Pauline and Alain, applied right up to launch.

Each entry pairs a phrase with a destination, “On vit”, “On change”, “On se pose”, exactly as in the mock-ups.

Large photos, elegant typography and gentle animations to convey the calm of the place.

Each testimonial has its own page and appears in a carousel, with its date and photo.
Behind the design, several technical choices make Alain’s life easier and help the farm get found.
Text, photos, workshops, testimonials and articles can be edited without touching the code.
Unique titles and descriptions, a single main heading per page and anchored sections, as per the specification.
The business, FAQs, dated workshops and testimonials are described for search engines.
Old addresses redirect to the new ones, and changing an address in the panel creates its own redirect.
WebP images, lazy loading and optimised fonts, on a CMS with no database.
Visitors sign up directly on the site to follow life on the farm.
A website true to the mock-ups, that Alain runs on his own.
Pauline’s design is respected down to the details, and the farm has a simple tool to share its daily life, publish its workshops and showcase its visitors’ testimonials.
