When Kirby CMS makes the difference in my web projects

Kirby CMS is an interesting alternative to WordPress when a project needs more lightness and simplicity.

Its core is less than 10 MB, and it works without a traditional database, all content is stored in simple text files (.txt). This makes deployment, backups, and migrations particularly easy.

Its main strengths:

• Simplicity: a clear structure, without heavy dependencies.
• Security: a reduced attack surface, with no need to manage dozens of plugins.
• Custom interface: the admin is configured with YAML files, making it easy to create an editing experience fully tailored to the client’s needs.
• Performance: a CMS that runs fast, even on modest hosting.

Kirby is not meant to replace WordPress, but it’s the perfect choice for editorial, cultural, or collaborative projects where simplicity, performance, and flexibility are essential.

I’ve had the chance to develop several sites with Kirby, in collaboration with Studio Colibri, Jeudi Matin, and Designers Éthiques, projects that show just how much of a difference this CMS can make.
